Liz grew up in rural South Florida where she played in tomato fields and avocado groves and learned to appreciate eating locally and seasonally. At The Ohio State University, she studied Environmental Communication and went on to earn a Master’s Degree from Portland State University in Science Education. After working in experiential education for six years with both children and adults, she decided to start her own landscaping business in Portland, Oregon. Over the next ten years, she practiced sustainable landscape design and construction and assisted homeowners with incorporating native plants and wildlife habitat into their gardens. Liz and her family are home vegetable gardeners and she loves to share the science and the fun of gardening with others. When she’s not in the garden, she is riding bikes, camping, and enjoying the local food and music scene in Austin.
