Woody Russell<http://www.woodyrussell.com> (Soul-Jazz, Blues, Americana ) - Critically acclaimed, award winning vocalist, guitarist and composer, Woody Russell, draws comparisons to powerhouse singer-songwriters the likes of Van Morrison and Elvis Costello. He’s released a body of recorded work that spans from the folk-rock infused songwriter fare of his first album, ...as simple as that (1996) to the more recent and highly praised blues/soul release of Up Against It (2010) and his latest recording, Delicious Days (2013); an album infused with sophisticated’ arrangements and harmony more closely associated with jazz. The Austin, Texas based Russell has always been a genre-blurring artist and Delicious Days is no exception. A defined trajectory toward jazz is the prevailing tone on this album; perhaps more so than on any of his other releases. But again, he seamlessly integrates blues, rock and soul in to the mix creating his singular style that has been accurately dubbed, “Technicolor Americana”. As a lyricist, Woody digs deep in to intimate narratives and is equally at home when addressing a broader social consciousness. And, not unlike Van Morrison, he navigates the sound of his words with a rhythmic precision and expression akin to a jazz improvisor. The end result in the case of Delicious Days is a lush, complex recording with a soul-jazz heart, created by a master craftsman and his superb band.

He is the recipient of the 2013 Bugle Boy Foundation’s Talent Trust Award following Kat Edmonson (2011) and Grammy nominee John Fullbright (2012).

Woody takes to the road throughout Texas frequently, as well as select tours in the U.S. and Canada. His live performances, whether solo or with his full band, have been described as “transcendent” by KDRP radio personality, David Arnberger; engaging audiences through a sincere and “in the moment” connection to his music. He’s shared billing with artists ranging from Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson, Steve Earle and Paul Thorn to Jimmy Vaughan and Tommy Castro at theaters, nightclubs and major festivals, including the prestigious Newport Folk Festival.

Woody Russell was a prominently featured artist on Season One of the CW Network’s, “Troubadour, TX”; airing weekly in over 20 million households nationwide from Sept. 2011 through Sept. 2012. He also toured with the program.

He is currently in the studio recording a new album for a late 2015 release.

Huck Johnson and the Jacknives - Huck Johnson and the Jackknives play swinging Texas Blues. The Austin TX based band is currently touring in support of their first studio recording: “Mason Jar Martini” which was released in the spring of 2015. Consisting of six original compositions, the EP demonstrates the band’s love for West Coast Jump and Texas Blues, as well as Traditional Jazz and Surf instrumentals. Along with their catalog of original music, this dynamic trio’s ability to play Jazz and Blues standards, Soul, and high energy Rock and Roll, puts smiles on faces and will always keep the dance floor moving. Huck and the boys put on a show to remember!
